Welcome to my blog!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and visit! We hope to share with you our journey of raising a child with Achondroplasia, the most common type of dwarfism. If this is your first time here, please start by reading Caitlyn's Story. It will share the beginning of her life with you. Enjoy!

Simple Woman’s Daybook – September 21th 2010

FOR TODAY – September 21st
Outside my window...  the sun is shining and the birds are singing.
I am thinking...  about Amber and how very sad it is that her 5 month old son passes away over the weekend.  RIP sweet Connor.
I am thankful for... how healthy Caty has been; she’s followed by an incredible team of dwarfism specialists.
I am wearing... exercise pants and t-shirt
I am creating... something for my niece-to-be Desiree (Scott’s sister is due in a month.)
I am going... have a busy couple weeks spent at the drs in the end of Oct/early Nov.  Hanna is going to be having her tear ducts unclogged on Oct 29th and then less than 2 weeks later Caty is going to be having her tonsils and adenoids out on Nov 9th.  Fun times!
I am reading... The Time Traveler's Wife – by Audrey Niffenegger
I am hoping... that after next Monday I can go back to wearing my contacts again – been having some issues with one of my eyes.  My vision is slightly blurry in my left eye, both with my contacts in and with my glasses on – but after having an eye exam my vision is still the same as it was.  The dr can’t figure out why the vision is blurry; my eye is perfectly healthy.  Told me to wear my glasses for 2 weeks and he’ll recheck it.
I am hearing... Hanna going vroom vroom vroom with her matchbox car.
Around the house...   Hanna is vacuuming with her Elmo vacuum cleaner – yes she’s moved on from the car sounds – just wish that the vacuum actually worked!
One of my favorite things... is our LPA family!  I’m so thankful for each and every one of you!
A picture that I am sharing... Caty doing her homework with Max the fish.   He’s the class pet and each child gets to bring him home for the night.

Simple Woman’s Daybook – September 14th 2010

FOR TODAY – September 14th
Outside my window...  there are birds eating from the bird feeder.
I am thinking...  that the person who’s been mowing their lawn needs to stop – they have been doing it for a good 30 minutes now.
I am thankful for... my friend Junette who has Meet & Greet passes for us to meet Justin Moore tonight.
I am wearing... my bathrobe – just took a shower.
I am creating... absolutely nothing today.
I am going... out tonight to hear some GREAT country music!
I am reading... The Time Traveler's Wife – by Audrey Niffenegger
I am hoping... to win tickets to the show tonight, instead of having to pay for them.
I am hearing... the radio playing through the computer (trying to win tickets to the show tonight) and Hanna Montana in the background (Caty’s new obsession)
Around the house... there are toys EVERYWHERE!!
One of my favorite things...  is my family and friends – so thankful for all of you!
A few plans for the rest of the week…  Justin Moore tonight, walking in the mornings with my friend Natalie, Caty’s going to play at a friends house tomorrow after school, Friday we’re heading to the cabin for an LPA weekend.
A picture that I am sharing... guess who?  After tonight I’ll have more pictures, even one with him.

Visitors from San Diego

A few weekends ago my brother Todd, sister in law Erin and niece Riley came up for a visit.  Todd and Riley were up mid-June but it seems that I forgot to post a blog about that visit, so I’ll include it in this one.
We sure miss being able to see Todd and his family.  We're looking forward to heading to San Diego for Christmas and spending a handful of days with them.
Hanna and Riley are just about 3 weeks apart in ago.  Last time they were here, Riley had recently started walking and Hanna was still crawling.

This visit was much different as both girls were walking and of course Caitlyn was hobbling.  Riley is super fast – almost runs rather than walks.  Here are some pictures from their most recent visit.

Maui x 11!!

I finally have finished all of my different posts about Maui.  Yes, I did it again and split up the posts.  I think most of you would rather take the time to read several shorter posts than than ONE LONG post!!  I’m one post shy of my 12 from Nashville.
We had a blast and hope to return soon!  The weather was wonderful as it always it – mid 80’s everyday and getting down to the low 70’s at night.  The humidity was similar to Nashville, but in Maui, we were either at the pool or the beach and there was a breeze.
Hope you enjoy our adventures!
