Welcome to my blog!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and visit! We hope to share with you our journey of raising a child with Achondroplasia, the most common type of dwarfism. If this is your first time here, please start by reading Caitlyn's Story. It will share the beginning of her life with you. Enjoy!

Simple Woman’s Daybook – May 24, 2010

FOR TODAY – May 24th

Outside my window...  The sun is shining (although rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days.

I am thinking...  how is it possible that Hanna is going to be 1 in less than two weeks!

I am thankful for... the fact that my parents are moving up to our area.  YAY for close (free) babysitters!!

From the kitchen... I can hear Jinx eating.

I am wearing...  Jeans and a shirt.

I am creating...  well, actually Caty and I are going to be creating her end of the year presents for her preschool teachers.  We’ll get to it once her quiet time is over.

I am going...  to BUNCO tonight!  Fingers crossed that I win!

I am reading... Last Kiss by Luanne Rice

I am hoping... to win at BUNCO tonight!!

I am hearing...  Elmo’s world – Caty is on an Elmo kick lately, might have something to do with the fact that Hanna loves Elmo.

Around the house...  all is pretty much quiet.  Caty is having quiet time on the couch and Hanna is sleeping.

One of my favorite things...  is my Droid – it’s the most awesome phone!!

A few plans for the rest of the week…  tonight is Bunco, tomorrow we’ll probably stay home since it’s supposed to rain.  Wednesday Caty has school.  Thursday is playgroup and then Caty is going to her friend Kylie’s house to play.  Friday is Caitlyn’s graduation from preschool.  How can she have gone from this:

And on Saturday we’ll be helping my parents unload moving van #1 into a storage unit.

Scooter time

Caty recently got a scooter and LOVES it!  She mastered it within a day or so!  No it wasn’t a Princess scooter but she’s moved on and got a Barbie one!  It came with a little Barbie bag that hangs on the front, but that got in the way so it came off.  No worries boys, there was one for you too, just can’t remember who was on the scooter.  This was the only one that we found that had an adjustable handlebar – so it’s obviously in the lowest spot, but it’s perfect!

Tea parties, Peek-a-boo and More

Come and join in on the fun!

Caty is well known for her tea parties – and she doesn’t disappoint!

Thankfully Hanna doesn’t care where she crawls – grass, dirt, sidewalks, Verizon stores (we spent about 30 minutes waiting for our turn and she wanted down, so I put her down.  She was happy as a lark!)  Let’s just hope that she likes crawling, or at least the feel of sand while we’re in Maui.

Picture time!

Caty had her school pictures taken back in February or so.  It’s taken me too long to get these posted into a blog – and they aren’t even on Facebook yet!  I know!

Our preschool graduate – it’s hard to believe that she’ll be graduating from preschool on may 28th – Kindergarten HERE WE COME!!

I decided for Scott’s birthday to take the girls and get their pictures taken together.  I have to say we got them done at Walmart, but they actually turned out pretty good!

I just love my girls so much!!

The Simple Woman’s Daybook – May 17th

FOR TODAY – May 17th

Outside my window...  I can hear the birds singing, but unfortunately it’s supposed to rain today – I’m ready for summer!!

I am thinking...  about a friend on Facebook who I had befriended – her daughter who is due in 10 weeks or so is thought to have Thanatophoric dysplasia – a lethal type of skeletal dysplasia.

I am thankful for... the wonderful POLP’s and other LPA friends that I have met over the past 5 years!  Love you all!!

From the kitchen... not much is going on in there today.

I am wearing...  jeans and a fleece blue sweatshirt-  come on it’s Mid-May, I should be in short sleeves and capris

I am creating...  well, at least needing to… a headband for Hanna to wear for her 1st birthday which is on June 5!  It feels like just yesterday that I was laying in the hospital, during my almost 19 hour labor, Facebooking and all of you thinking I was nuts.  :-)

I am going...  TO NASHVILLE IN JUST 45 DAYS!!  YEEHAW!!!

I am reading... Last Kiss by Luanne Rice

I am hoping... that my friend, from the above “I am thinking…” gets good news today from the results of her amnio.

I am hearing...  the Zac Brown Band on the tv – I’m watching/listening to their tv special “Pass The Jar.”

Around the house...  all is quiet, except for the above mentioned.  Hanna is napping, although I probably just jinxed it and she’ll wake up soon – an hour nap is a good thing though.

One of my favorite things...  is my Swiffer SweeperVac – no more bending down with the dustbuster.

A few plans for the rest of the week…  Today is Caty’s special day at school, and we have speech this afternoon – last time.  Tomorrow we’re having lunch with our friend Jenny and her daughter Avery.  No plans on Wednesday besides Caty going to school.  Thursday we have playgroup at our house.  Friday is another school day for Caty.  Saturday I’m heading down to my parents, without Scott or the girls, so I can help them with packing – after living in this house for almost 35 years, they’ve accumulated a lot of stuff.  Sunday afternoon I’ll be coming back home.

Trying Something New

I recently got a Droid through Verizon and have been finding app after app. Well Scott stumbled upon one and it's AWESOME! It's called ANYPOST and with it I can now update my Facebook and Twitter status at the same time. And supposedly I can post a blog from it. So I'm giving it a try to see what happens. Wish me luck!!

Happy WISHBONE DAY!!

Today, May 6th, has been declared WISHBONE DAY; the first ever International Awareness day for Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), otherwise known as ‘brittle bone disease’.  Caty, Hanna and I are showing our support by wearing yellow for our dear friend Melissa and her daughter, Sonya, who has OI.

Sending our love to Sonya!
