Welcome to my blog!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and visit! We hope to share with you our journey of raising a child with Achondroplasia, the most common type of dwarfism. If this is your first time here, please start by reading Caitlyn's Story. It will share the beginning of her life with you. Enjoy!

I Won’t Let Go

For those of us with “differently-abled” children we all have good days and bad days.  I would say most of those “bad days” were during the first part of Caty’s life.  I kept asking the question “why us? why our daughter?”  God knew that we could handle a challenge and that’s why we were chosen as her parents.

Lately there have been several parents that have posted about their sadness and challenges that they, and more importantly their children , will face in life.   I recently came across this Rascal Flatts song called “I Won’t Let Go”.  I wanted to let all of the parents out there that are raising “differently-abled” children know that I’m there for you.  I won’t let go and I will stand by you!  Love you all!

It’s like a storm
That cuts a path
It’s breaks your will
It feels like that
You think you’re lost
But you’re not lost on your own
You’re not alone

I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do
If you can’t cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won’t let go

It hurts my heart
To see you cry
I know it’s dark
This part of life
Oh it finds us all
And we’re too small
To stop the rain
Oh but when it rains

I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do
And you can’t cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight

And I won't let you fall
Don’t be afraid to fall
I’m right here to catch you
I won’t let you down
It won’t get you down
You’re gonna make it
Yea I know you can make it

Cause I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do
And you can’t cope
And I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won't let go
Oh I’m gonna hold you
And I won't let go
Won’t let you go
No I won't

I know we have never met, but I have fallen in love with your family. I'm so glad that you reached out to us when we began our adoption. I hope that one day we will get to meet face to face. That's for all your encouragement.

Jaime this brought tears to my eyes. You are such a wonderful person and you're right, you were blessed with Caty because no matter what you'll be able to handle it and help others with thoughtful advice. Your family is kind and generous and so full of love!

You are amazing - an amazing mom and amazing friend!! I love this song and listen to it often lately! You are always there to offer support and help to every POLP you meet . . . we are all so blessed to know you and your sweet family! Caty is such a blessing, and I love that new POLP families have role models like you to look to for advice, someone to just listen, and to see that everything will be ok - even amazing! So, hugs and love to you, my amazing friend!!
Simon is one of my two greatest blessings, and I can't imagine life being any different! We have had even more blessings in our life because of Simon (so many wonderful friends that have become more like family), and I hope that I can always offer support/help to any POLPs as you do!
BTW - I meant to say on Caty's montage blog post that I loved the music you had on there as well!
